Background Information:

The new policy #4.608 – Transcript Alterations is required by state law for all systems that alter transcripts. Public Chapter 557 states that transcripts may only be altered by an LEA employee if there is a policy governing student transcript alterations. It also requires that any alterations be supported by documentation and prohibits retaliation against employees that bring unauthorized transcript alteration to the attention of school officials.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the above-noted adoption of Board Policy #4.608 for the first reading.
